Framed Agate Slices

August 11, 2016

Hi Friends! Today I'm going to show you how I made these super cute framed agate slices!

I saw a set of these amazing frames on the Pottery Barn website a while back and decided that i absolutely had to have them! Unfortunately, they were $152 each ...on sale. Yikes! I think I'll make some myself, thank you very much!

So here's what I did:

I found these necklaces at Dollarama for $3 each. They have a whole rack full of different colours so I sifted through and finally settled on these two.

I started by taking the slices off of the necklaces.

I picked up two frames, also from Dollarama. Although, I don't mind the silver frames, I pictured white frames with this project from the get go so I decided I was going to paint them.

I used super thick latex paint and a coarse brush to give them more of a wood-like texture but any spray paint would work just as well. It would probably be less work actually. This is after two coats.

While I waited for my frames to dry, I glued my agate slices to a piece of  8.5x11 card-stock and then taped the card-stock to the matting that came with the frame.

Here they are all hung up! So pretty and definitely worth the little bit of effort!
